About The Position

This role is responsible for the day-to-day equipment operations of the Football equipment room. The position provides expertise and understanding of the football program’s equipment needs, including assessment of current safety standards and concerns. Key responsibilities include managing laundry operations, equipment procurement, inventory control, and oversight of the Adidas football allotment. The role also involves coordinating all aspects of football practice and game day equipment operations, traveling with the football team to all away contests, and arranging equipment transportation for all home and away football games. Additionally, the position is responsible for maintaining the Coach Comm system and ensuring working knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA, ACC Conference, and institution rules and regulations, communicating any possible infractions to the Athletics Compliance Staff. The role involves orienting and training others, assigning and reviewing work, and potentially performing work similar to subordinates. Other program duties may be requested by the Director of Athletics or the Director, Athletic Equipment Operations. This includes overseeing the receiving, issuance, use, and maintenance of all football equipment, receiving new equipment and performing necessary documentation, and maintaining current inventories of all athletic equipment supplies related to football. The position requires developing expertise with all safety equipment and staying current on safety trends, overseeing and developing procedures for equipment inspection, and overseeing the issuance, fitting, maintenance, repair, and reconditioning of all football equipment and uniforms. The role also oversees the transportation and implementation of all football equipment at athletics competitions, practices, scrimmages, offsite practices, and bowl games, and manages all laundry and locker room operations for Football. The position supervises a staff of temporary employees, interns, and student equipment managers. It also coordinates the selection of manufacturers for equipment purchases, evaluates bids based on cost, quality, service, and delivery schedules, and makes recommendations for acquisition. The Associate Director assists in conducting physical inventory twice a year and maintains proper documentation, while also maintaining a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all applicable University, departmental, and NCAA rules and regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years of Head Football Equipment Manager experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to manage and complete multiple projects in a timely fashion.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency required, to include experience with Microsoft Office Suite, JumpFoward Equipment Inventory, ACS Equipment Inventory or Sportsoft Equipment Inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the transportation and implementation of all football equipment at athletics competitions, practices, scrimmages, offsite practices and bowl games.
  • Manages all laundry and locker room operations for Football.
  • Supervises a staff of temporary employees, interns, and student equipment managers.
  • Coordinates the selection of manufacturers for the purchase of equipment and evaluates bids as they relate to cost and quality, as well as, service and delivery schedules.
  • Sends out bids to qualified vendors and manufacturers, and, once bids are returned, makes recommendation to Director, Athletic Equipment Operations for acquisition.
  • Assists Director, Athletic Equipment Operations in conducting physical inventory twice a year and maintains proper documentation.
  • Maintains a continuing and thorough knowledge of all applicable University, departmental and NCAA rules and regulations and complies with those rules and regulations.
