About The Position

Join the Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau Of Blindness & Visual Services (BBVS) as an Assistive Technology Specialist and help staff deliver services through accessible tools and programs. Requirements

  • Three years of professional experience in rehabilitation work, vocational guidance, employment counseling or placement, psychology, or social work, two years of which must have been in the field of vocational rehabilitation; and a bachelor's degree; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Graduate study in the behavioral sciences may be substituted for the required general experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of one year.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead statewide sessions that teach staff how to use assistive technology effectively
  • Check websites and documents for accessibility and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Create guides, forms, and user materials that support accessible software use
  • Use assistive software to test webpages and offer solutions for accessibility issues
  • Work with staff to develop trainings, procedures, and reports across BBVS programs
  • Present updates and guidance at meetings and keep current with agency policies
