About The Position

The Assistive Technology Partnership (ATP) supports families across Nebraska through “Technology with a Purpose.” We’re hiring an Assistive Technology Specialist to focus on home or vehicle modifications that help people with disabilities gain greater independence in everyday tasks that other may take for granted. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, vendors, contractors, families, and individuals to develop creative, functional solutions that make a real impact. We’re looking for someone who is a strong communicator, works well independently, and enjoys problem-solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience related to the essential functions of the position.
  • Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and travels independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Education in architecture, drafting, construction, or occupational therapy and physical therapy related fields.
  • Experience providing home-related assistive technology and support to people with disabilities and their families, and designing environmental modifications and adaptive devices.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and provides technical assistance (e.g., use, modification, maintenance, repair) related to home and vehicle modifications and other assistive devices.
  • Participates in awareness activities at various conferences and events.
  • Provides technical assistance to employers, educators, professionals, and family members of people with disabilities regarding assistive devices (e.g., their design, use, modification, maintenance, and repair).
  • Documents and manages case information, develops plans and specifications for projects, completes evaluation reports, and communicates case progress.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver’s license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.
