About The Position

The Assisted Living Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and quality of care within the Assisted Living community. This role ensures residents receive high-quality, person-centered care in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while maintaining compliance with state regulations and organizational policies. The Assisted Living Director leads and develops staff, fosters positive relationships with residents and families, and promotes a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence.

Requirements

  • MUST BE AN RN or LPN in the state of IA.
  • Current Assisted Living Administrator or Director certification/licensure as required by state regulations
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of leadership or management experience in assisted living, long-term care, or senior housing
  • Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations and compliance standards
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and basic office software
  • Commitment to resident dignity, choice, and person-centered care

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, social services, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Assisted Living operations, ensuring high standards of resident care and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations governing assisted living communities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and care practices in alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational expectations.
  • Oversee resident admissions, assessments, service plans, and ongoing care coordination.
  • Collaborate with nursing, clinical partners, and interdisciplinary teams to support resident health, safety, and well-being.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Assisted Living staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Promote staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for residents and families, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting are maintained accurately and timely.
  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, and operational resources effectively.
  • Foster a welcoming, respectful, and resident-centered community culture.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and risk management concerns appropriately.
  • Represent the Assisted Living community positively within the organization and the broader community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
