About The Position

NHC Place Sumner is seeking a Life Enrichment / Recreation Director for its assisted living and memory care setting. The role focuses on providing daily meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life, with programming tailored to wellness domains and dementia care. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, energetic, highly organized, and interested in working with seniors.

The director develops and implements a well-rounded wellness and activities program for memory care residents, including evening and weekend programming, holiday celebrations, and major events. The role also oversees resident assessments and care plans, supervises wellness assistants, manages the volunteer program, ensures compliance with applicable guidelines, and partners with other departments on community marketing efforts.

Requirements

• Desire to work with seniors and a compassionate, caring, and creative approach.
• Energetic and highly organized.
• Knowledge of wellness domains as they relate to long-term-care programming, specifically dementia.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to be a team player and work with other departments to build staff morale.
• Basic typing and computer skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Publisher for producing monthly calendars, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
• Associate degree from an accredited college or university, satisfactory completion of two years of college, or two years of long-term-care experience specifically related to activities and memory care programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a well-rounded wellness and activities program for memory care residents, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and major events.
• Complete assessments, care plans, and associated paperwork in a timely manner.
• Facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings.
• Supervise wellness assistants, including training, scheduling, and evaluation.
• Manage the center volunteer program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and recognition.
• Ensure programming complies with local, State, and Federal guidelines.
• Partner with other departments to support community marketing efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
