About The Position

The Assistant Wrestling Coach is responsible for various aspects of managing the wrestling program, including ensuring all contracts are on file, adhering to practice and playing schedules (avoiding Sundays), prioritizing student-athlete class attendance, and maintaining budget control. The coach is also accountable for all equipment assigned to the sport, overseeing both team practice and competition, and ensuring safe transportation for all away competitions. This includes securing funds for travel, lodging, and meals in advance. Additionally, the coach must provide match information and player profiles to the Director of Sports Information for publicity and ensure the proper conduct, dress, and behavior of student-athletes while traveling.

Responsibilities

  • Driving or ensuring safe drivers are secured.
  • Securing money for travel well in advance to include lodging, meals, and travel.
  • Getting play profiles and accomplishments to the Director of Sports Information.
  • Providing match information to be publicized on the university website and local media outlets.
  • Being responsible for the conduct of student-athletes, proper dress and conduct while on the road.
