About The Position

This is an extra duty position for an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the Harrison High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The position is part of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC), which emphasizes impacting lives daily, innovation, and a supportive community. EVSC is committed to educating, inspiring, and empowering students.

  • Prior coaching experience preferred.

  • Develop and implement an exemplary athletic program.
  • Provide the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete.
  • Ensure full compliance with all school and school board policies and regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with the entire staff.
  • Relate positively to parents and other community representatives.
  • Demonstrate professional growth.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all required records and reports.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in standard English, both spoken and written.
  • Accept and fulfill responsibilities beyond the team setting as they pertain to school expectations.
  • Assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment that supports the well-being of all student athletes.
  • Foster and model positive interactions among student-athletes while building supportive relationships with the school and community.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for coaching and learning.
  • Promote self-direction and self-motivation in students, empowering them to take responsibility for their learning, growth, and success.
  • Create clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of the sport, ensuring effective instruction and guidance for student athletes.
  • Effectively adapt instruction of strategy and fundamentals to align with the individual needs, abilities, and interests of student-athletes.
  • Develop and sustain an organized athletic program guided by well-structured, long-term planning.
  • Demonstrate effective planning and organization while employing a diverse range of appropriate strategies and resources to enhance student athlete development.
  • Clearly convey fundamental coaching expectations to student athletes and explain their significance for personal, athletic, and academic growth.
  • Utilize appropriate and varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
  • Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and inform appropriate persons.
