About The Position

This is a part-time position responsible for assisting the University's intercollegiate athletics program. The role involves directing and organizing all aspects of an assistant coach's job responsibilities in compliance with university, NCAA, and MAC policies. The position supports the development of quality, competitive athletics teams and the educational goals of student-athletes. The coach will also assist in recruitment and retention, represent the head coach in their absence, and maintain knowledge of all relevant rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior coaching and/or playing experience (preferably at the collegiate level).
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Commitment to the mission, core values, and goals of Alvernia University
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and organizes all aspects and job responsibilities of an assistant coach as indicated in the Alvernia University Coaches Manual.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Represent and/or carry out the duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
  • Maintain an active understanding of all University, NCAA and MAC rules and regulations and report any possible violation immediately to the Director of Athletics.
  • Pass the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings, training sessions, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.
