About The Position

The Assistant Men's Soccer Coach (Part-Time) is responsible for assisting the University's intercollegiate athletics program. This role involves establishing policies and procedures that align with the goals of developing quality, competitive athletics teams and supporting the individual educational goals of student-athletes. The position requires assisting in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, and the ability to represent or carry out the duties of the head coach in their absence. A key aspect of the role is maintaining an active understanding of all University, NCAA, and MAC rules and regulations, and reporting any potential violations immediately to the Director of Athletics. The coach must also pass the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test and promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of Alvernia University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior coaching and/or playing experience (preferably at the collegiate level).
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Commitment to the mission, core values, and goals of Alvernia University
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and organizes all aspects and job responsibilities of an assistant coach as indicated in the Alvernia University Coaches Manual.
  • Assists in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Represents and/or carries out the duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
  • Maintains an active understanding of all University, NCAA and MAC rules and regulations and report any possible violation immediately to the Director of Athletics.
  • Pass the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings, training sessions, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.
