About The Position

Walsh University is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and passionate individual to join its NCAA Division II women's lacrosse program as an Assistant Coach. This role involves assisting the coaching staff in the technical and tactical development of student-athletes, guiding them academically and personally, and contributing to recruiting and retention efforts. The position operates within the framework of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and adheres to NCAA Division II rules and regulations. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other university staff to uphold the mission and values of Walsh University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 1-3 year’s coaching experience at the collegiate level or other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff, and faculty.
  • Positive attitude.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certification required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with game day operations.
  • Ability to stand, in the outdoors/elements for 3+ hours.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the head coach in coaching and mentoring student-athletes technically and tactically.
  • Guiding student-athletes through academic achievement and personal development.
  • Helping with recruiting and retaining student-athletes.
  • Managing the day-to-day practice regimen.
  • Communicating goals, expectations, and accountability to maintain high standards of performance, ethics, and sportsmanship.
  • Creating relationships built on sincere interest in each student-athlete’s academic, athletic, and personal pursuits.
  • Collaborating with other college staff when necessary.
  • Assisting with the planning, organization, and facilitation of individual and team training and competition.
  • Studying and implementing strategy and skills needed to prepare for competition.
  • Learning, knowing, and abiding by NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Leading in a way that positively reflects the mission and vision of the institution.
  • Adhering to rules, guidelines, and principles set forth by the applicable division/conference.
  • Assisting the head coach and staff to plan, communicate, create, and model expectations.
  • Developing a strategic plan to identify and evaluate talent for Walsh University.
  • Creating relationships with prospective student-athletes, their families, clubs, and high school coaches.
  • Building and maintaining prospect databases through recruiting events and camps/clinics.
  • Organizing and working collaboratively with admissions to bring quality student-athletes on campus.
  • Reaching/Managing assigned enrollment numbers.
  • Establishing and maintaining alumni relationships.
  • Fundraising to support the operating budget.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.
