About The Position

This is a part-time position for an Assistant Women's Ice Hockey Coach at Alvernia University. The role involves directing and organizing all aspects of an assistant coach's responsibilities in compliance with university, NCAA, and MAC policies. The position supports the intercollegiate athletics program, focusing on developing competitive teams while upholding the educational goals of student-athletes. Key duties include assisting with recruitment and retention, acting in the head coach's absence, and ensuring adherence to all relevant rules and regulations. The coach will also promote Franciscan ideals and the University's mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Prior coaching and/or playing experience (preferably at the collegiate level).
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
• CPR Certification required.
• Commitment to the mission, core values, and goals of Alvernia University.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Directs and organizes all aspects and job responsibilities of an assistant coach as indicated in the Alvernia University Coaches Manual.
• Assists the University's intercollegiate athletics program and establishes policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes.
• Assists in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
• Represents and/or carries out the duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
• Maintains an active understanding of all University, NCAA and MAC rules and regulations and reports any possible violation immediately to the Director of Athletics.
• Passes the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
• Promotes Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.
• Attends all mandatory meetings, training sessions, etc.
• Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.
