This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in organizing and administering all aspects of the College’s NCAA Division I Women’s Hockey program. This includes the recruitment of outstanding student-athletes, coaching at the individual and team level, video analysis, skill development of student athletes, and game/practice planning. Specific daily emphasis will be on recruiting, practice planning, motivating and mentoring student athletes and game planning duties as assigned by head coach. Secondary emphasis on alumni events, community engagement, and academic support of players. This position will act coach will act as head coach in the event the head coach is unavailable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of relevant coaching and/or playing experience, preferably at a Division I institution or at the professional level
  • Experience to include knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Acceptable results of a DMV background check is required for this role

Nice To Haves

  • Ten years of coaching experience to include experience with identifying and recruiting outstanding Division I student athletes
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit outstanding prospective student-athletes - local, regional, national, and international.
  • Establish and cultivate strong relationships with high school, club and AAA coaches.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of unofficial and official recruiting visits.
  • Maintain and manage recruiting logs and contact dates/times.
  • Take a leadership role with instruction, leading practices, game analysis, opponent assessments, and growth of hockey student-athletes.
  • Manage the implementation and direction of academic progress within the hockey program along with athletic academic support staff.
  • Serve as active leader in student-athlete development off the ice in a holistic approach by networking, engaging with alumni, career opportunities and mentorship.
  • Assist with daily administrative duties for all aspects of the program.
  • Work collaboratively with head coach, equipment manager on team equipment ordering.
  • Plan, coordinate and establish daily practice plans with head coach.
  • Review and evaluate practice and game video and prepare scouting reports.
  • Assist with organizing, administering, and supporting team building, practice planning, and game planning.
  • Preparations involving video breakdown and analysis.
  • Maintain practice records in accordance with NCAA and conference guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by head coach.
