About The Position

Assist the head volleyball coach in overseeing the volleyball program at Tennessee High School. This role involves providing overall leadership, supervision, and coordination of the volleyball program, fostering an atmosphere that promotes skill development for competitive participation. The program aims to extend the school's academic mission by emphasizing academics, discipline, high morals, and team play, building a foundation for productive citizenship. The program also promotes integrity, sportsmanship, work ethic, "Viking Pride," and a competitive nature, preparing student-athletes for success both in sports and in life. The assistant coach is expected to be a person of high moral character and integrity, loyal to the head coach and administration, and represent the school professionally. Compliance with all TSSAA rules and regulations is mandatory. The role involves treating students with dignity, creating a climate of discipline and hard work, and performing duties assigned by the head coach and athletic director.

Requirements

  • Previous volleyball coaching experience required.
  • Ability to understand instructions and underlying principles.
  • Ability to reason and make judgments.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to resolve problems and solve disagreements through conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Tennessee teaching certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach to evaluate and formulate an improvement plan for the overall volleyball program.
  • Provide supervision of student-athletes involved in Tennessee High Volleyball.
  • Assist the head coach with practices.
  • Assist the head coach with coordinating all game day activities.
  • Promote the volleyball program in both the school and the community and serve as the spokesperson in the area of public relations for Tennessee High Volleyball.
  • Work cooperatively with school staff, student-athletes, and parents in promoting Tennessee High Volleyball.
  • Work cooperatively with coaches of other sports to ensure the overall success of Tennessee High Athletics.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the head coach.
  • Maintain and oversee the safety conditions of all dressing rooms, facilities, and equipment used by Tennessee High Volleyball.
  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Enforce the code of conduct and expectations for the Tennessee High Volleyball program.
  • Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the athletic director.
  • Ensure accident/injury reports are submitted to the athletic office in a prompt manner.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the off-season strength and conditioning program.
