About The Position

Performs complex, technical and professional engineering work for environmental, water, sewer, street, stormwater management, and other Village projects and programs ensuring technical competence and compliance with all codes and ordinances. Undertakes independent reviews of private project development plans and permits for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and compliance with approved plans. Performs routines and technical drafting work in preparing maps and other related exhibits as needed. Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses. Attends meetings, drafts correspondence, and maintains regular contact with the Village Engineer, consulting engineers, construction project engineers, Village, County, State and Federal agencies, professional and technical groups and general public regarding Village activities and services.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years previous professional civil engineering experience including at least five years utilities and stormwater management.
  • Must hold Professional Engineer Certificate in the State of Illinois.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must maintain a valid Illinois State Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within three months from date of employment.
