About The Position

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Philanthropic Impact serves as the Foundation's leader for post-award philanthropic investment management and stewardship. Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy, this position provides strategic oversight of the Foundation's portfolio of donor-funded gifts, grants, endowments, and other philanthropic investments to ensure resources are deployed effectively, expended in a timely manner, aligned with institutional priorities, and managed in accordance with donor intent. The AVP is responsible for translating philanthropic investments into meaningful outcomes for students, communities, and the College. This position provides enterprise-wide leadership for the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, budgeting, reporting, and stewardship of donor-funded initiatives. The AVP will build and lead a team responsible for supporting funded projects across the institution while establishing the systems, processes, and accountability structures necessary to ensure successful execution and measurable impact. While the position does not directly manage donor relationships, it serves as a critical partner to Development team members who act as Primary Relationship Managers for donors and funders. Through strong collaboration with campus leadership, academic affairs, workforce and careers, finance, sponsored programs, institutional research, and Foundation staff, the AVP ensures donor investments are producing meaningful results that advance Ivy Tech's mission and demonstrate exceptional stewardship.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 7 – 10 years of progressively responsible experience in program management, grants administration, project management, budgeting, finance, philanthropy operations, or higher education administration.
Demonstrated experience leading complex portfolios, budgets, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Experience building systems, processes, and teams that drive organizational effectiveness and accountability.

Responsibilities

Provide enterprise-wide oversight of all donor-funded accounts, including major gifts, endowed funds, corporate investments, foundation grants, scholarships, and other philanthropic awards.
Ensure donor-funded resources are utilized effectively, responsibly, and in alignment with donor intent and institutional priorities.
Monitor fund utilization, spending rates, project implementation, and outcomes across the organization's portfolio of philanthropic investments.
Identify underutilized or dormant funds and work collaboratively with college and Foundation leadership to develop strategic plans for deployment.
Ensure gift and grant expenditures remain consistent with donor restrictions, award agreements, and applicable institutional policies.
Develop and maintain systems that provide visibility into the financial performance, utilization, progress, and impact of donor-funded initiatives.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team responsible for supporting, monitoring, and managing donor-funded initiatives throughout the College and Foundation.
Establish a comprehensive portfolio management framework to ensure effective administration of donor-funded projects.
Assess project scope, priorities, risks, timelines, and resource needs and assign project management support accordingly.
Monitor overall project portfolios and organizational capacity to ensure successful implementation.
Develop standards, methodologies, tools, and processes that support consistent execution and accountability across funded initiatives.
Ensure funded programs and projects are progressing according to approved plans, budgets, timelines, and performance measures.
Provide executive-level portfolio reporting and recommendations to Foundation and College leadership.
Serve as a key leader in the Foundation's annual budget development process.
Partner with Foundation Finance, College leadership, Development team members, and program leaders to ensure donor-funded accounts are budgeted appropriately based on funding agreements, strategic priorities, implementation timelines, and institutional needs.
Develop annual and multi-year forecasts related to donor-funded resources and anticipated expenditures.
Monitor spending trends and fund balances to ensure resources are utilized effectively and in a timely manner.
Provide recommendations regarding budget allocations, spending strategies, and resource deployment to maximize donor impact.
Develop reporting tools and dashboards that support financial transparency and decision-making.
Ensure philanthropic resources are managed with the highest standards of fiscal stewardship and accountability.
Lead the development and execution of stewardship reporting processes for gifts and grants.
Ensure donor, grantor, and executive reports are completed accurately, thoughtfully, and on schedule.
Oversee the collection of financial, programmatic, and impact data necessary to demonstrate outcomes and fulfillment of donor intent.
Partner with Philanthropy team members to translate outcomes into compelling stewardship materials that illustrate the impact of philanthropy.
Maintain systems for tracking reporting deadlines, obligations, and commitments associated with donor-funded awards.
Develop frameworks and metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of philanthropic investments across the College.
Facilitate communication, accountability, and alignment among stakeholders responsible for implementing funded projects.
Support strategic decision-making through analysis, forecasting, reporting, and recommendations related to donor-funded investments.
Promote a culture of stewardship, accountability, collaboration, and impact throughout the organization.
