About The Position

Assumption University is accepting resumes for Assistant Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Development. This position serves as the University’s senior human resources leader. This role partners closely with academic and administrative leadership, and senior administrators, to support the university workforce that includes faculty, staff, and student employees. This position also ensures HR strategies, policies, and operations align with institutional priorities, support a positive and inclusive campus culture, and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. The Assistant Vice President for Human Resources & Organizational Development will lead the continued evolution of Human Resources into a service-oriented, strategic partner that advances employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, organizational performance, and continuous improvement. The position is responsible for developing and implementing training, professional development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness initiatives that support the University's mission and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Higher Education Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including leadership of multiple functional areas.
  • Working knowledge of Title VII, Title IX regulations.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage empathetically, credibly and effectively with senior leadership while fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey policies clearly, address concerns with credibility, and facilitate organizational change, while presenting effectively to audiences ranging from small groups to large institutional gatherings.
  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all HR functions.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Administers and oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, investigations, and dispute resolution.
  • Partner with leadership to address workforce planning and retention priorities.
  • Leverage data, systems, and reporting to inform decision-making and improve service delivery.
