About The Position

The Assistant Vice President, IT Cloud Center of Excellence provides strategic and technical leadership for the organization’s cloud computing strategy, emerging technology adoption, and enterprise innovation initiatives. This role is accountable for designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures across public, private, and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). The Assistant Vice President, IT Cloud Center of Excellence leads cloud migration, modernization, and automation efforts while identifying and piloting innovative technologies— including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent automation—that advance business objectives and operational efficiency. This position partners with business and IT stakeholders to evaluate, prototype, and operationalize new solutions, manages cloud vendors and spend, and establishes cloud governance, FinOps practices, and reference architectures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • AI certification or related required
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect required
  • Microsoft Azure certification required
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience with a focus on cloud and emerging technologies, with management exposure required
  • Strong hands-on experience architecting and operating workloads on one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP Architect) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud migration, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and CI/CD automation
  • Working knowledge of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent automation, with experience operationalizing them
  • Familiar with encryption strategies and protocols for data at rest and in transit, and with cloud security and governance frameworks
  • Prior experience working in a highly sensitive environment housing ePHI and bound to HIPAA and HITECH regulations
  • Experience with cloud cost management/FinOps and vendor management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Responsibilities

  • Define, deliver, and support the enterprise cloud strategy and roadmap, aligning cloud and innovation investments with organizational goals and priorities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures across public, private, and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Direct cloud migration and application modernization initiatives by coordinating resources and timetables with business and IT departments
  • Research, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence, machine learning, intelligent automation, and modern data platforms—and operationalize those that deliver measurable business value
  • Establish and govern cloud reference architectures, landing zones, and infrastructure-as-code standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability
  • Implement cloud cost management and FinOps practices to optimize spending, forecast capacity, and improve return on cloud investment
  • Lead DevOps and automation efforts, including CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and self-service provisioning, to accelerate delivery
  • Preserve assets by implementing cloud-native disaster recovery, backup, high-availability, and business continuity capabilities
  • Recommend cloud and innovation strategies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements and accounting for compliance needs and security best practices
  • Lead cross-functional teams to assess, isolate, and remediate cloud platform issues and deploy new technology as needed
  • Consistently demonstrate understanding of security standards in daily administration and solutions and as set forth in the Information Security and HIPAA policies
  • Work to ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, etc.) in all aspects of cloud data utilization and information access
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging security threats and mitigation approaches for cloud and emerging technology environments and perform periodic security reviews of your assigned areas
  • Ensure all proposed changes follow the Change Management policy and procedure for production changes

  • Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
  • Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties
