About The Position

The Investment Operations – Private team at Oaktree Capital Management is a middle-office team focused on private investments and serves as a central hub for the private investment lifecycle. The role supports private deal closings and coordinates investment operations with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, helping ensure accurate funding, asset setup, investment monitoring, and reporting. It also contributes to operational controls, documentation, process improvements, and automation, while offering the opportunity to take on progressive leadership and supervisory responsibilities as the role expands.

Requirements

6–8 years of relevant experience in an operations capacity at an asset management company, investment bank, or other financial services company.
At least 2 years of experience in private credit investment operations and middle-office support, including reviewing private credit documents such as credit agreements and amendments for key terms, data points, and operational nuances.
Strong knowledge of private credit fund concepts across a range of strategies, including corporate direct lending.
Strong knowledge of general finance, process documentation, and cross-functional operations.
Prior management or team-lead experience and a track record of guiding, developing, or overseeing junior team members.
Solid analytical skills and the ability to understand and resolve complex problems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while independently driving projects to completion.
Ability to work autonomously with strong judgment and accountability.
Proactive ownership, initiative, organization, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
Strong integrity and professionalism.
Bachelor’s degree relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key member of a dedicated middle-office team that acts as a hub for private deals and facilitates private deal closing activities.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure accurate and efficient deal funding, asset setup, investment monitoring, and reporting.
Review the private deal pipeline regularly to ensure deals are tracked in a timely manner.
Analyze legal documents, including credit agreements and fee letters, to identify critical terms for each private deal.
Assist in managing banking, custodian, and facility relationships across the credit platform.
Oversee outside stakeholder reporting and communication with banks, rating agencies, co-investors, auditors, and other parties.
Develop an understanding of internal functional groups, systems, and processes, and serve as a central point of contact between the Investment Team and the back office.
Partner with investment professionals, internal and outside counsel, tax, accounting, and compliance professionals to coordinate across the investment process.
Participate in developing and documenting operational policies, procedures, and controls.
Ensure operational procedures and controls are followed and maintained, escalating issues to stakeholders as appropriate.
Take on progressive leadership responsibilities, including supervisory duties as the role expands.
Support document management for private credit deals.
Analyze process issues and bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
Assist with process improvements, automation, and longer-term systemic solutions.
