About The Position

Coaches student athletic programs, specifically the assigned boys track program. The coach works under the Assistant Principal of Athletics, organizes and supervises the sports program, and coaches student athletes. This is a .5 FTE supplemental position. The work calendar varies, and the role is classified as exempt. The position does not supervise other employees.

Requirements

• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• For Head/Varsity positions, hold valid Arizona teacher certification, Arizona coaching certification, or Level 1 Certification issued by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS).
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course.
• Complete the NFHS online course “Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know.”
• Knowledge of standard practices, methods, and materials of assigned work; occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices; uses and properties of supplies and equipment; customer service principles; specialized equipment relevant to the assignment; and modern office technology.
• Skill in following directions and meeting standards; attention to detail; comprehending reference books and manuals; organizing and maintaining supplies; providing customer service; using a computer and relevant software; and communicating and interacting effectively with coworkers, supervisors, the public, and others.

• Coach student athletes in the assigned sport.
• Organize and supervise the sports program.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
