About The Position

As an Assistant Transportation Engineer in the field, you will be performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, systems, facilities, and other aspects of transportation engineering. This position may also act as a Resident Inspector on selected projects and will be introduced to project management principles and advanced technical engineering duties. Other duties may involve detailing, designing, and estimating quantities for Regional led pavement preservation or rehabilitation design projects.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as an inspector by inspecting, verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by private Contractors
  • Interpreting the plans and specifications that relate to the project
  • Sampling and testing construction materials
  • Detailing, designing, and estimating quantities for Regional led pavement preservation or rehabilitation design projects
