About The Position

USD 480 in Liberal, KS is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Track Coach for the 2026-2027 School Year. Preference will be given to candidates who have or are eligible for a current Kansas teaching license. The teaching assignment will be determined at a later date. This role involves supporting the head coach, ensuring student participation, adhering to KSHSAA guidelines, and maintaining professionalism in all communications and actions. Coaches are expected to prioritize their role as educators while fulfilling their coaching duties.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for a current Kansas teaching license (teaching assignment to be determined).
  • Professionalism in communication following the chain of command.
  • Ensure students have physicals and concussion forms turned in before participation.
  • Complete the pre-season safety, rules meetings, and exam requirements on time.
  • Complete the uniform/equipment electronic check in/check out.
  • Must have all money before ordering apparel.
  • Complete accident reports immediately.
  • Stay up-to-date with athlete eligibility.
  • Ensure grades are communicated to parents.
  • Send number counts to the bookkeeper for food 2 days in advance.
  • Email the office staff the dismissal list and time the day before or morning of.
  • Communicate with the office if coverage is needed for a class.
  • Do not leave students unattended after practice or events.
  • Supervise locker rooms before and after practices and games.
  • Report final scores to the AD.
  • Supervise all practices at all times.
  • Return all equipment neatly after practices and games.
  • Ensure athletic storage is locked and locations are secured.
  • No students allowed in the athletic storage.
  • No practices on Sunday will be permitted unless cleared through the AD.
  • Practices must conclude by 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.
  • Notify the AD prior to cancelling a previously scheduled practice or adding a practice.
  • Do not prop doors.
  • Abide by the USD 480 key card policy.
  • Supervise and assist with buses, keeping them clean and following bus rules.
  • Follow fundraising and requisition procedures approved by the AD.
  • Attend coaches meetings.
  • Complete evaluations within the time frame given.
  • Supervise travel, ensuring boys and girls are separated and spread out among coaches/sponsors.
  • Schedule end of season team banquets/awards with the AD.
  • Notify the AD and Parent Coordinator and update roster if a student quits or is dismissed from the team.

  • Conduct a parent meeting prior to the first competition.
  • Complete the pre-season safety, rules meetings, and exam requirements on time.
  • Keep inventory updated at the beginning and end of season.
  • Complete the uniform/equipment electronic check in/check out.
  • Follow all apparel ordering procedures.
  • Complete accident reports immediately; let AD know; and give to the nurse.
  • Report KSHSAA Concussion incidents to the AD.
  • Stay up-to-date with athlete eligibility.
  • Send number counts to the bookkeeper for food 2 days in advance.
