About The Position

Manteno Middle School is seeking applicants for two openings for the positions of Assistant Track and Field Coach. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a successful athletic program that promotes student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and competitive excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, including rules, techniques, strategies, and safety practices
  • Ability to effectively motivate, instruct, and supervise student-athletes
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, students, parents, and community members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (or ability to obtain upon hire, if required by the district)
  • Successful completion of all district, state, and athletic association coaching requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting and encouraging student participation in the athletic program
  • Assist with the instruction, supervision, and development of student-athletes
  • Evaluate athlete skills and assist with team assignments and player development
  • Plan and conduct practices that promote individual and team improvement
  • Instruct athletes in the rules, techniques, strategies, and safety requirements of the sport
  • Plan and carry out all activities necessary to prepare the team for games, tournaments, and other athletic competitions
  • Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and related activities
  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and positive behavior
  • Monitor academic eligibility and encourage student-athlete academic success
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and community stakeholders regarding the athletic program
  • Assist with equipment management, inventory, recordkeeping, and program administration
  • Participate in team events, awards programs, parent activities, and other athletic department functions
  • Ensure compliance with district, conference, and state athletic regulations and procedures
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information
  • Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth
  • Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
