About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist the Senior Associate Dean and support the Seaver Dean’s Office. It focuses heavily on independent, project-based execution, demanding a higher degree of autonomy, critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving. This position supports the University's mission and strategic plan through the assistance it provides to one of Seaver's key decision-makers, the Senior Associate Dean of the college. The person in this position also interacts directly with faculty and students, providing them with the necessary tools and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
  • At least three years of office experience.
  • Computer literacy; Copy and phone; Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of Pepperdine.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to listen attentively.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Public relations skills.
  • Ability to function under pressure; ability to work efficiently; overall concepts and applications; aptitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean (e.g. draft/mail correspondence, manage the dean's calendar, book travel reservations, reallocate and substantiate credit card charges, maintain files, draft/mail correspondence, background research for projects best practices, etc.).
  • Serve as an Application Administrator for Navigate. Manage the updating of academic plans for Academic Planning and implement strategic training on Navigate tools for students, faculty and staff. Serve on the leadership team for EAB ongoing implementation. Recommend efficiencies and adjustments to improve tool use across college.
  • Support the RTP and FTF process for faculty. Assist with coordination, advertising and analytics support for summer school.
  • Plan and/or assist with event preparation and execution. Events include: Seaver Faculty Association meetings each semester, annual Faculty retreat, Seaver Dean's lectures and Faculty/Staff meetings, and Seaver College graduation and Baccalaureate service.
  • Request event captioning, produce CoursEval reports, coordinate student progress survey, assist with updating the Faculty handbook, support analytics implementation and ongoing usage of data, Dean's List, academic integrity forms, and assist with and execute projects assigned by the senior associate and dean of Seaver College.
  • Support the Seaver Deans Office with phone coverage, proofreading, PeopleSoft, creating requisitions, course scheduling, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
