About The Position

The Assistant Technical Designer supports the Technical Design team by implementing consistent size, fit, and construction standards, working cross-functionally with Design and Production. The role helps manage products from sketch through pre-production and production samples, supports fit sessions, and tracks approvals and revisions to help ensure on-time delivery. It also involves regular communication with overseas offices and vendors to address garment construction and production issues. Consistent in-office presence is vital to the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and patternmaking.
• At least 1 year of fashion industry experience as an Assistant Technical Designer.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, silhouettes, colorways, sewing techniques, fabrication, and trim.
• Consistent in-office presence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the product life cycle from sketch through pre-production and production samples.
• Work with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack.
• Review and evaluate samples for specifications, pattern shape, and construction.
• Communicate daily with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve garment construction and production issues.
• Work with Design, Sourcing, and Production to create cost-effective styles in relation to fit and construction.
• Prepare for and assist during fit sessions, ensuring comments and revisions are tracked.
• Track and follow up on pending fit and pre-production approvals to ensure on-time delivery.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
