Workwear Outfitters•Nashville, TN

About The Position

Workwear Outfitters is seeking a Technical Designer to interpret product design intent and provide accurate specifications, sketches, construction details, bills of materials, and 3D assets for product development. The role governs product definition and collaborates with merchandising, product development, manufacturing, quality, and pattern teams to finalize fabric and trim selection, evaluate fit, and provide production facilities with the information needed to deliver accurate products within targeted costs. The Technical Designer translates designer concepts into technical packages that support efficient manufacturing and high quality throughout development, production, and retention. It also identifies potential manufacturing and quality discrepancies and develops alternatives to minimize risk. The role advances Bill of Materials and tech-pack utility across product categories and systems, including label requirements, component usage and waste calculations, trade-agreement and tariff compliance, inter-system combinations and iterations, protective certifications, and location capabilities. The Technical Designer advances fittings on live models or mannequins and leads design direction on 3D avatars; influences cost-effective design and efficient manufacturing through collaboration with engineers and onsite analysis; and provides technical authority across complex garment categories using virtual/3D design applications, legacy systems, and PLM systems. Responsibilities also include setting and communicating vendor-specific Tech Pack and Bill of Material requirements with global and factory partners; auditing previous production against new samples; leading product-relocation execution through Tech Pack data comparison and vendor-capability assessment; coaching and developing the team’s technical capability; and leading high-impact projects and process improvements across categories, systems, and departments.
