About The Position

The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a 9-month full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Department of History, with a specialization in Early American history. The position begins in August 2026. Towson University (TU) is a public university located north of Baltimore, enrolling over 19,000 students and is part of the University System of Maryland. Requirements

  • PhD in History or related fields required. ABD applicants considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching the history of Early America.

Responsibilities

  • Teach eight (8) course units per academic year.
  • Teach the first half of the United States survey (to 1865).
  • Teach Towson’s first-year seminar.
  • Teach courses in Colonial America and Revolutionary America.
  • When scheduling permits, teach an upper-level course in the area of research specialty.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and discipline.
  • Support the mission and priorities of the College of Liberal Arts and Towson University.
