About The Position
The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a 9-month full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Department of History, with a specialization in Early American history. The position begins in August 2026. Towson University (TU) is a public university located north of Baltimore, enrolling over 19,000 students and is part of the University System of Maryland. TU aims to foster intellectual and personal growth within its community.
Requirements
- PhD in History or related fields required. ABD applicants considered.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching the history of Early America.
Responsibilities
- Teach eight (8) course units per academic year.
- Teach the first half of the United States survey (to 1865).
- Teach Towson’s first-year seminar.
- Teach courses in Colonial America and Revolutionary America.
- When scheduling permits, teach an upper-level course in the area of research specialty.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and discipline.
- Support the mission and priorities of the College of Liberal Arts and Towson University.
