About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor to join the Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition within the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track instructional, research, and clinical (IRC) appointment. The position involves approximately 80% teaching and 20% service, with no research time. Teaching responsibilities will cover areas such as Professions in Health Care and Pathophysiology. The ideal candidate will also serve as the departmental health professions coordinator/advisor and is expected to be collaborative and collegial. UCCS is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, offering a vibrant community with a mix of outdoor adventure, arts, and a growing tech scene.

Requirements

Master's degree in human physiology, anatomy, a closely related field, or a relevant clinical discipline (e.g., Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)), conferred by August 1, 2026 is required.

Nice To Haves

A terminal degree, in human physiology, anatomy or closely related discipline (e.g. MD, DO, DPT, PhD) is preferred.
Experience in professional or clinical service is preferred.
One (1) year of human physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and/or professions in health care teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and deliver an integrated curriculum that connects foundational science with clinical applications.
Ensure consistency and quality across multiple lecture and laboratory sections each semester.
Utilize diverse, evidence-based teaching strategies, including large- and small-group instruction, demonstrations, discussions, simulation, peer instruction, problem-based learning, and team-based learning.
Incorporate and effectively use state-of-the-art instructional technologies in both lectures and laboratory settings.
Potentially coordinate departmental advising efforts and mentor undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students as they prepare for professional schools and careers in healthcare.
