About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor in Secondary Education to join the Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education. This full-time, non-tenure track position begins August 17, 2026, and is an ongoing, 9-month appointment. The College of Education offers programs in professional education and teacher licensure, and we are looking for candidates with in-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices and best practices in Secondary Education, with a strong interest in inclusion, innovation, and collaborative approaches to teacher education, particularly school/university partnerships that leverage technology to enhance access.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education, or closely related field is required
  • Experience teaching in a Secondary Education classroom is required

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in STEM related content area is highly desirable
  • Knowledge in Instructional Technology is highly desirable
  • Field supervision experience in undergraduate/graduate secondary education teacher preparation program is highly desirable
  • Experience leading online instruction is highly desirable
  • A doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or closely related field is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Teach four courses each semester (fall and spring), primarily at the undergraduate level
  • Mentor and advise students
  • Attend monthly department meetings, regular program meetings, and meetings with the Director of Teacher Education/Department Chair as needed
  • Create highly engaging learning experiences related to course outcomes
  • Gather and assess evidence of student learning in accordance with course expectations
  • Use effective in person, distance, and/or online learning methods
  • Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner
  • Develop thorough syllabi and Canvas content OR follow the provided syllabus and Canvas content for the course
  • Engage in continuous curriculum and program review and development
  • Actively engage in authorization/accreditation processes
  • Serve on department, college, and/or university committees
  • Practice inclusive education and adult learning methods
  • Orchestrate engaging distance learning experiences
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality regarding critical and sensitive information, records, and reports
  • Work in partnership with colleagues
  • Reflect competence and a demonstrated commitment to all learners
