About The Position

The Department of Romance Languages at the University of Oregon seeks a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish Language and Culture. This role involves teaching undergraduate language and culture classes at both lower- and upper-division levels, with a primary focus on beginning and intermediate Spanish. The position requires creative teachers who can collaborate effectively with graduate employees and faculty in a multi-sectioned program environment. The standard course load is 9 courses per year, distributed as three courses per quarter.

Requirements

MA in Spanish, applied linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, language pedagogy, or a related field before the start date.
Instructional experience at the college-level with beginning and intermediate programs in Spanish.
Professional-level language proficiency in both Spanish and English.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience with curriculum development, program articulation, proficiency assessment, placement testing, service learning, or other areas of program development.
Experience supervising/coordinating multi-sectioned language programs.
Experience teaching Spanish as a Heritage Language.
Experience with recruitment and advising.
Experience with promoting academic programs.
