About The Position

The Department of Romance Languages seeks a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish Language and Culture, to teach undergraduate language and culture classes at the lower- and upper-division levels, with primary assignment in the beginning and intermediate levels. Our multi-sectioned programs require creative teachers who work well in a collaborative environment with both graduate employees and faculty (both Teaching and Research Professors). A full course load for this position is 9 courses per year (three per quarter).

Requirements

MA in Spanish, applied linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, language pedagogy, or a related field before the start date.
Instructional experience at the college-level with beginning and intermediate programs in Spanish.
Professional-level language proficiency in both Spanish and English.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds and contribute to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Nice To Haves

Experience with curriculum development, program articulation, proficiency assessment, placement testing, service learning, or other areas of program development
Experience supervising/coordinating multi-sectioned language programs
Experience teaching Spanish as a Heritage Language
Experience with recruitment and advising
Experience with promoting academic programs
