About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking two (2) part-time Assistant Teaching Professors in Licensure Programs to join their team. UCCS is committed to academic excellence, professional development, and fostering an environment that supports innovation and student success. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs offers a vibrant setting with stunning landscapes, a rich history, arts, and a growing tech scene. This position is half-time, involving teaching four graduate licensure courses per academic year, with potential for summer teaching. Service to the licensure programs, department, college, and university is also expected. The positions are set to begin on August 17, 2026.

Requirements

  • MA in educational leadership or a closely related field from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Principal license preparation from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Professional, full-time experience in the principalship or school level leadership.

  • An earned doctorate in educational leadership or a closely related field from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Expertise in school building level leadership.
  • Expertise in public K-12 education finance, human resources, and legal issues.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate licensure courses in the Principal License or Administrator License programs (80% of workload).
  • Utilizing a variety of pedagogical approaches that enhance student learning, including technology, theory to practice connections, student engagement, and experiential education.
  • Demonstrating commitment to expanding educational access, opportunity, and excellence for learners across varied educational settings and communities.
  • Teaching primarily online, with opportunities to teach in-person in local school district partnership cohorts.
  • Service to the licensure programs (18% of workload).
  • Collaborating with department faculty to create and maintain partnerships with school districts and statewide education leaders to support recruitment and retention of licensure students, including the development of district cohorts.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of innovative marketing and recruitment strategies to connect prospective students to licensure programmatic offerings.
  • Providing academic advising to prospective and current students related to course planning.
  • Attending annual regional and state-wide meetings, such as CASE.
  • Assisting in coordination of annual mock interviews.
  • Contributing to bi-annual meetings of the Education Collaborative Leadership Group (ECLG).
  • Service to the department, college, and university (2% of workload).
  • Participating in monthly department meetings.
  • Serving on relevant university-level leadership opportunities when available.
