About The Position

University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College at North Little Rock is an integral part of the Arkansas Technical and Community College System maintained by the State of Arkansas. The college is governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a seven-member Board of Visitors and derives its support largely from student tuition and fees and legislative appropriations. UA - Pulaski Tech, a comprehensive two-year college, offers associate degree and certificate programs for students who plan to transfer to four-year colleges and universities and/or for career preparation and advancement. Adjunct faculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for UA - Pulaski Technical College students. Faculty perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. The successful hire will teach Principles of HVACR I, Principles of HVACR II, Residential HVAC, Heating Systems, Systems Design, Commercial HVAC, Commercial Refrigeration, Unitary Refrigeration, HVAC Internship (Observational), HVAC Internship (Hands-on), and HVAC Internship as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five years of industry experience in the residential or commercial HVAC field.
  • EPA 608 type “Universal” certified for refrigerant handling
  • Familiar with standard air-cooled split systems, chiller, water cooled condensers, cooling towers, VRF equipment, and basic control devices.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years of industry experience.
  • A.C.C.A. Manual “J” system sizing and “D” Duct sizing experience.
  • Manual “S” and “T” form software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 9 credit hours at the undergraduate level per academic semester. This may vary based on the discipline and/or demand.
  • Actively and consistently participating in orientations, professional development workshops, all mandatory or required training, events, and meetings, such as shared governance, commencement, and convocation.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive, collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues and staff.
  • Demonstrating a willingness to use contemporary educational techniques and technology.
  • Maintaining skills or knowledge required for the HVACR discipline.
  • Utilizing syllabus, BlackBoard, timeline of class curriculum and other information to present information in a timely manner for the success of students.
  • Providing prompt and accurate records of assessments and final grade reports.
  • Demonstrating consistent professionalism with students and commitment to working cooperatively with campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College.
  • Support student participation in competitions such as SkillsUSA.
  • Completing all required reports, including but not limited to, course-level or program-level outcomes assessment and academic program review, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department director, school dean, or Provost.
