Biology - Assistant Teaching Professor (Foundational Biology)
About The Position
Sacred Heart University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biology. The role focuses on undergraduate biology instruction, particularly in foundational courses for majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will teach in the Concepts in Biology sequence (first-year major's Introduction to Biology) and may contribute to Ecology and/or Microbiology instruction. There is an opportunity to develop an engaging foundational biology course for non-science majors. Instruction in sophomore-level Ecology labs includes supervising field-based experiences at forest and coastal study sites. The position involves joining a collegial department dedicated to teaching, student mentorship, and experiential learning, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Biology or a related field in the biological sciences (ABD considered).
- Ability to drive an 8-passenger van to field sites (for Ecology candidates).
