About The Position

Ontario Tech University is seeking a teaching faculty position with knowledge and experience in Catholic Education at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. This position will begin on or around January 1, 2027. The Frazer Faculty of Education focuses on leading-edge research, theory, and practice in curriculum and pedagogy, offering undergraduate and graduate programs. The faculty is known for its technology-driven approach to education, preparing teachers and graduate students to be leaders in using emerging technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level students in both on-campus and online courses, including pre-service teacher candidates in the Catholic Education course required for Catholic school boards. Contributions to faculty and university administration through committee membership are also expected.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) by the start of the appointment.
  • Strong team-based skills and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Experience in teaching pre-service teacher candidates in the Catholic Education course required for Catholic school boards.
  • Demonstrate a track record of excellence and innovation in teaching undergraduate (B.A./B.Ed.) and graduate (M.A./M.Ed./Doctoral) students in both face-to-face and online formats.
  • Strong understanding of, and background and experience in, teaching in online learning environments, including fully online synchronous, asynchronous, and blended modes.
  • A thorough understanding of learning theories and pedagogy related to online and face-to-face learning.
  • Extensive knowledge about the meaningful use of a wide range of technologies in fully online, blended, and face-to-face learning environments.
  • Evidence of teaching that fosters reflection, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration.
  • Evidence of a well-grounded understanding of curricular and pedagogical design, educational research, digital technologies, and assessment.
  • Experience in proactively advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching and learning.
  • Strong digital skills.
  • A strong background in teaching Catholic Education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach both undergraduate and graduate level students.
  • Teach both on-campus and online courses.
  • Teach pre-service teacher candidates in the Catholic Education course required for Catholic school boards.
  • Contribute to in-person, on-campus life at the downtown campus.
  • Bring knowledge, experience, and expertise teaching in online learning environments.
  • Contribute to the development and administration of the Faculty and University through active committee membership.
  • Teaching, planning, and assessing courses.
  • Responding to student inquiries.
  • Maintaining regular office hours.
  • Managing teaching assistants, as applicable.
