Under the supervision of the assigned teacher, the assistant teacher is responsible for assisting in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement Head Start and/or state preschool educational objectives and performance standards. This includes assisting with child supervision, classroom preparation, ongoing assessment documentation (anecdotal records, IEPs, CCPRs, daily health observations), developing and implementing daily/weekly lesson plans, planning open-ended activities for diverse developmental levels and multicultural backgrounds, maintaining effective communication with parents (including home visits for conferences), attending staff meetings and in-service training, assisting with recruitment efforts, and contributing to a healthy nutrition program by eating center-prepared meals with children. Other duties may be assigned.
