About The Position

This person is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, under the guidance of the Lead Teacher. Assist in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, in support of the program’s philosophy on early childhood education.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is and must be 18 years of age
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all DSS-required background screenings in compliance with South Dakota Administrative Rul es for Licensed Child Care Programs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending and kneeling to engage with students at their level
  • Outdoor supervision in various weather conditions (heat, cold, light rain)
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations, including physical intervention to prevent harm if necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant work experience or an associate’s degree in early childhood education is preferred

  • Supervise and interact with children at all times while maintaining a safe and inviting environment
  • Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate activities
  • Ensure a positive approach to managing the behavior of all children
  • Support , monitor , and evaluate children ’s development by using E arly L earning G uidelines
  • Create and maintain an open and professional relationship with all families , Center staf f and children while maintaining confidentiality
  • Adhere to all C enter and licensing requirements and policies
  • Ensure c onsistent attendance to maintain c orrect child/teacher ratio s
  • Attend staff meetings and complete re quired training programs
  • Act in accordance with F BT and Kid’s World policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook s
  • Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance and other training as requested
