About The Position

The Assistant Teacher role involves supporting and assisting the lead teacher in all aspects of classroom management and the daily schedule. This includes the daily planning and execution of classroom and outdoor activities, supervising children during meal times, toileting procedures, and both inside and outside activities. The Assistant Teacher is also responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of children in their assigned group, cleaning and organizing the center as needed, and responding effectively and timely to the needs, questions, and concerns of parents and children.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
  • MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the child development field preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and assists lead teacher in all aspects of the classroom management and daily schedule.
  • Responsible for the daily planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities for the group.
  • Lesson plans will be prepared on a weekly basis with one copy being posted in the classroom for parents, and one copy turned into the Coordinator.
  • Supervision for meal times, toileting procedures, inside and outside activities for children in the classroom.
  • Attendance at all staff meetings, parent conferences (as needed), and ongoing training.
  • Cleaning and organizing of the center as needed.
  • Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of children in assigned group.
  • Responds to needs, questions, concerns of parents and children in an effective and timely manner.
