About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS) is hiring Assistant Teachers (age 18+) for our after-school programs serving K–5 students in Sioux Falls! This is a great opportunity for college students who want a future working with children. The position offers flexibility with work hours, allowing for 2 to 5 days per week, between 2pm and 6pm, Monday through Friday. The role requires a full school-year commitment, beginning September 1, 2026, and continuing through May 31, 2027. The pay is $15/hour for individuals aged 18 and older. Benefits include 401(k) with a 3% match for those 18+, supportive supervisors, structured activities, and fully stocked classrooms. This role provides a chance to make a real difference for children while having fun.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) and active auto insurance
• Must meet licensing requirements: no substantiated child abuse/neglect reports and no felony within the last 5 years
• Successful completion of all agency background checks
• A genuine desire to help kids learn and grow!
