About The Position

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools in Clayton, North Carolina, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. You will help create a warm, welcoming classroom where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore. The role includes hands-on activities, storytelling, and everyday learning moments. You will also serve as a partner to families, a positive role model for children, and a member of a collaborative teaching team focused on engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun early childhood education.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Genuine care for children and commitment to their safety and well-being.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with families.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.

Nice To Haves

• A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education.
• Prior experience in a licensed childcare center.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and classroom activities.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements.
• Engage with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time.
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication.
• Assist with classroom documentation, including attendance and daily reports.
