About The Position
The Assistant Teacher supports children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth by helping create a safe, nurturing, fun, and diverse environment. The role includes planning age-appropriate lessons and activities, adapting curriculum to meet learning objectives, following state and YMCA safety guidelines, and building strong relationships with parents. The organization offers team support and opportunities to learn and grow.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children; experience may be professional, volunteer, or familial, including babysitting.
- Passion for working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
- At least 21 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree or credits in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
- Cultivate and foster a safe, nurturing environment that encourages children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
- Adjust curriculum to help ensure all children meet learning objectives.
- Use state and YMCA guidelines to ensure children’s safety and well-being.
- Build strong relationships with parents.
