About The Position

Munson Healthcare, northern Michigan’s largest healthcare system, is seeking an Assistant Teacher for their summer camp program. The Assistant Teacher will support the lead teacher in all aspects of classroom management and daily scheduling, taking responsibility for planning and executing classroom and outdoor activities, preparing weekly lesson plans, supervising children during meals, toileting, and activities, attending staff meetings and training, and maintaining center cleanliness. A primary focus is ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of children and effectively communicating with parents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the child development field preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and assists lead teacher in all aspects of the classroom management and daily schedule.
  • Responsible for the daily planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities for the group.
  • Lesson plans will be prepared on a weekly basis with one copy being posted in the classroom for parents, and one copy turned into the Coordinator.
  • Supervision for meal times, toileting procedures, inside and outside activities for children in the classroom.
  • Attendance at all staff meetings, parent conferences (as needed), and ongoing training.
  • Cleaning and organizing of the center as needed.
  • Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of children in assigned group.
  • Responds to needs, questions, concerns of parents and children in an effective and timely manner.
