Support Staff Teacher (Part Time)
About The Position
The Goddard School located at 900 Gaither Rd. Rockville, MD, is seeking a motivated, caring and dependable Part-Time Assistant Teacher to join our team! At our School, we put our teachers first because they put our students first. As a Part-Time Assistant Teacher, you will support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging learning experiences, maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment and helping children learn through play and exploration. Bring your energy, positivity and passion for working with children to our supportive and collaborative school community! This is a Part-Time Position – Approximately 25 hours per week with scheduled hours from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare, preschool or educational setting preferred
- Warm, patient and nurturing personality
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
- Basic understanding of child development
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
- Must meet state licensing requirements, including background checks and required credentials
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through positive interactions and active engagement
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized and welcoming classroom environment
- Supervise children and provide individualized support as needed
- Support classroom routines including meals, diapering/toileting, transitions and playground supervision
- Assist with daily communication and relationship-building with families
- Follow all health, safety and licensing regulations
- Work collaboratively with teachers and administration to create a positive school culture
