About The Position

Classrooms are often located in community environments and public school settings to promote integration and inclusion. The school's programs are divided into Primary/Elementary and Secondary/Transition classrooms, with a focus on transdisciplinary support and applying ARC principles (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency). Oak Hill School is seeking a passionate, patient, and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join their team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license for at least two and a half to three years
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow instructional plans and directions.
Compassion, patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Ability to safely assist students with mobility and personal care needs.

Nice To Haves

College coursework in Education or a related field.
Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
Experience in a classroom or educational setting.
Knowledge of student development and behavioral support strategies.

Responsibilities

Support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Work one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Encourage student independence while implementing individualized behavior support plans.
Assist with classroom observation and documentation of student progress.
Provide personal care support, including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, transferring, and other daily living activities as needed.
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
Assist students during transportation and school transitions when necessary.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and other educational professionals to promote student success.
Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications, including V-Endorsement.
Apply the ARC principles (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency).
