About The Position

CIFC's Danbury Early Learning Programs are hiring multiple part-time Afternoon Assistant Teachers for the 2:45–5:45 PM shift. The position assists one or two classrooms with planning and implementing classroom routines, curriculum, meals, and related activities for preschool and/or infant-toddler children ages 6 months to 5 years. The assistant supports a classroom of 14 to 20 Head Start/preschool children and/or 7 to 8 infant-toddler children, assists with core Head Start program functions, and performs other tasks as needed. The role works under the direction of one or two assigned Lead Teachers and is supervised by the Education Services Professional. It is classified as hourly and non-exempt, with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Must be 18 years old or older.
Basic computer experience, including email, word processing, and internet navigation.
High school diploma or GED equivalent, completed or currently enrolled.
Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate, or commitment to obtain a CDA within one year of employment; the employer pays for it.
Recent documentation showing freedom from communicable diseases, including TB and COVID.
Recent fit-for-duty examination.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous babysitting or childcare experience.
Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
