About The Position

CIFC's Danbury Early Learning Programs are hiring multiple Afternoon Assistant Teachers for a part-time afternoon shift from 2:45 to 5:45 PM. The role assists one or two classrooms with planning and implementing classroom routines, curriculum, meals, and related activities for preschool and/or infant-toddler children ages 6 months to 5 years. The assistant serves in a classroom of 14 to 20 Head Start/preschool children and/or 7 to 8 infant-toddler children. The position assists with the core functions of the Head Start program and performs other tasks as needed. It works under the direction of one or two assigned Lead Teachers and is supervised by the Education Services Professional. The position is hourly, non-exempt, and does not directly supervise anyone.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Basic computer experience, including email, word processing, and internet navigation, is required.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; applicants may have completed it or be currently enrolled.
A Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate is required, or the employee must commit to obtaining one within one year of employment. The employer pays for the CDA.
Must provide recent documentation showing freedom from communicable diseases, including TB and COVID.
Must provide a recent fit-for-duty examination.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous babysitting or childcare experience is preferred.
Early Childhood Education credits are preferred.
Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
