Primer is a growing network of K–8 schools focused on restoring the timeless foundations of American education, inspired by original teaching primers. Studio Guides, also known as Assistant Teachers, are crucial partners in creating a joyful, safe, and effective learning environment at Primer. They work closely with the Primer Leader (the lead teacher) to support students academically, emotionally, and socially throughout the school day. This is an active role, involving participation in instruction, culture, and operations, including maintaining routines, supporting small-group learning, observing student needs, and ensuring smooth classroom operation. Assistant Teachers are expected to model Primer’s “Take Kids Seriously” culture through positive interactions, a calm presence, and consistent follow-through. The role requires reliability, communication, flexibility, and a willingness to provide support wherever needed, making the Assistant Teacher a key member of the campus team and a daily partner to their Primer Leader.
