We are seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Preschool program. The ideal candidate will have a completed Associate's degree or be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Early Childhood Education. For the Lead Teacher role (3-4 yr olds), a completed Associate's degree or CDA in Infant/Toddler is preferred. A professional NY State Certification in Early Childhood Education B-2 is also preferred. This role requires 1-2 years of experience working with children aged 2-5, preferably in a childcare or school setting. Familiarity with Head Start, the Creative Curriculum, preschool assessments, lesson planning, behavior management, and early childhood practices is essential. The assistant teacher will be responsible for completing paperwork, including lesson plans, child assessments, daily logs, and classroom logs. They will provide a safe, positive, creative, and nurturing learning environment, guiding children in language development, autonomy, social interaction, and physical activities. Communication with parents regarding their child's progress is key. The assistant teacher will also support team members and volunteers, ensure classroom activities are developmentally appropriate, handle emergency situations, and create a setting that meets individual children's needs through assessment and individualized lesson plans. Flexibility, professionalism, a love for working with young children, and support for diversity initiatives are crucial. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
