The Assistant Teacher II supports teachers serving a varied population of students by assisting with the implementation of their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves adapting instruction to meet students' academic, medical, developmental, and technological needs. The Assistant Teacher II is expected to fulfill all teacher duties during periodic absences and may assume all teacher responsibilities during extended absences. The Fairmount Campus is a nonpublic special education day program approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, operating on an 11-month schedule. The program values each student's uniqueness and aims to help them reach their full potential academically, socially, and behaviorally, fostering independence. The curriculum is based on Maryland State Department of Education standards and includes instruction in reading/English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, health, music, fine arts, and career development.
