About The Position

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the lead teacher and children in the classroom. Must support the GSRP implementation manual, follow licensing requirements, and keep children's safety a priority. Has a basic understanding of Relationship-Based Care (RBC) principles, meets expectations outlined in Commitment To My Co-workers, and supports RBC unit action plans. Responds to the needs, questions, and concerns of parents and children in an effective and timely manner. Responsible for the daily planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities for the group. Lesson plans will be prepared on a weekly basis with one copy being posted in the classroom for parents, and one copy turned into the Coordinator. Supervision for meal times, toileting procedures, inside and outside activities for children in the classroom. Attendance at all staff meetings, parent conferences (as needed), and ongoing training. Cleaning and organizing of the center as needed. Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of children in the assigned group.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education OR Valid Child Development Associate Certificate, or the ability and commitment to attain within two years of hire
  • Basic understanding of Relationship-Based Care (RBC) principles
  • Meet expectations outlined in Commitment To My Co-workers
  • Support RBC unit action plans
  • Vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella
  • Receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption
