About The Position

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking caring and dependable early childhood professionals to support our Head Start classrooms serving 3- and 4-year- old children by assisting teachers with classroom activities and providing safe transportation services for children and families. The starting rate is up to $18.50 per hour for a Monday-Friday schedule from 6:45 am to 2:45 pm (40 hours/week).

Requirements

• High School Diploma/ GED & Child Development Associate (CDA)
• Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred
• EDU 119 required
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans
• Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
• Maintain classroom documentation and records
• Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings
• Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses
• Build positive relationships with children and families
